Earthkind Water Conservation Workshops Pull 40 People for Learn and Fun Lubbock Master Gardeners held an Earthkind Water Conservation workshop on Saturday July 25 and a repeat of the workshop on Saturday August 1. The first class had 15 participants and the second pulled 25 who signed up for the 9 am to 3 pm class that included lunch and $34.50 in take-home manuals and books and a home visit from a Master Gardener or Extension Agent. The classes charged $35 per person and $50 per couple. But a grant from A&M will reimburse us for any expenses not covered by the admissions changed. LMG president Bill Rice covered “How to install a drip irrigation system” and “How to identify and fix irrigation problems.” “Rainwater harvesting” was covered by master gardener Cecilia George and Vikram Baliga, Extension Advisor, talked about landscape design, mulching, managing turf and the best plants to select or our hot and dry Lubbock climate. |
