Lubbock Master Gardeners are members of the local community who take an active interest in their lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and gardens. They are enthusiastic, willing to learn, willing to teach, and interested in helping others. Master Gardeners are able to communicate with diverse groups of people.
What really sets Master Gardeners apart from other home gardeners is their special training in horticulture. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service designed the volunteer development program and provides the training to increase the availability of horticultural information and improve the quality of life through horticultural projects. In exchange for their training, persons who become Master Gardeners contribute time as volunteers, working through their cooperative extension office to provide horticultural-related information and support to their communities. Lubbock Master Gardeners Association was organized in 1992. The organization is a member of the Texas State Master Gardeners Association. |
